#mechanical preparation

Mechanically prepared, a term we use regularly at eco:fibr, but what does it actually mean? 🌿

Behind mechanical preparation is a process in which plant-based material is treated in a way that releases and makes usable the fibres contained within it. Sounds simple, but it is the decisive step that turns a plant-based residue into an industrially usable material.

What makes this particularly interesting is that this approach can be applied to many different plant-based input materials. Agricultural residues that are left on the fields after harvest and have so far often gone unused or been disposed of in environmentally harmful ways can be developed as a raw material source in this way.

The result is dry fibres that can be integrated into various value chains as an industrially usable raw material, for example in the paper, packaging, construction or fibre casting industry.

For us at eco:fibr this is the core of what we do. Processing existing plant-based residues in a resource-efficient and scalable way, instead of drawing on new raw material sources. 🍍♻️
