What exactly are dry fibers? 🌿

The term comes up constantly around here, so today we're taking a moment to explain it properly.

Dry fibers are plant-based fibers obtained from agricultural residues through mechanical processing. We've talked about the process before, the raw material, such as leaves or stalks, is mechanically processed so that the fibers contained in the biomass are separated and brought into a usable form. The properties of the fibers, such as fiber length or purity, depend on the natural characteristics of the respective raw material. No chemical modification of the fibers takes place during the mechanical process.

The mechanical processing is at the core of this approach. This means it can be applied to a wide range of different plant-based raw materials, from pineapple leaves to other agricultural residues we're currently researching. 🔄

The result is a raw material that can be interesting for various industries, such as paper, packaging, construction, or molded fiber. Which specific applications emerge from this depends heavily on individual requirements and is currently being tested together with partners.

For us at eco:fibr, dry fiber stands for an approach that is resource-conscious and developed close to industry needs. An existing residual material is turned, step by step, into a material that could be used industrially. 🍍
