The fruit makes money, the rest of the pineapple plant costs it. 💸

After every harvest, far more is left on the field than just a few leaves. A single pineapple plant, after all, bears only one or two fruits in its entire life and is spent after that, so after around two years the whole plant has to come off the field. Huge amounts of plant biomass therefore have to be removed before the land can be farmed again. For many farms, that means extra effort and extra costs, without any value being created in return. The residues are usually dried chemically and then burned, a process that is not only harmful to the environment but also costs time, labour and money before the land can even be used again. 🌾

This pattern shows up not only in Costa Rica but in almost every region where pineapples are grown on a large scale. What is missing is an economically viable alternative, and that is exactly what we offer by putting these residues to meaningful use. 🌍

We turn the residues of the pineapple plant into mechanically processed dry fibres that can be reused industrially. What used to be a cost factor for farms can this way become a lucrative and resource-saving business. 🌱
