From sample to order: next operational milestone for our toll manufacturing 🌱⚙️
A few weeks ago, we shared that several material samples from different regions had arrived and were to be defibrated together with our partner fiber-rec.
Today we can say: the next operational step has been completed.
Together with fiber-rec, we processed seven different samples (5–10 kg each) from pineapple producers in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. The materials deliberately differed in pre-treatment methods and moisture content to reflect the realistic range we expect to work with in the future.
Objective of the tests
Our goal was clear: to identify
which producers we want to source larger volumes from for toll manufacturing, and
which pre-treatment approaches are process-stable and scalable.
For this purpose, we:
tested different rotational speeds to specifically adjust fiber lengths,
gained key insights into machine settings and tolerances,
and developed a deeper understanding of how sensitive the process is to differences in pre-treatment.
First consequence: order placedEven though detailed fiber comparisons and single-fiber analyses are still ongoing, one thing was already clear:
👉 The tests provided enough confidence to move forward.
The first order of 5.5 tons of dried and pre-shredded pineapple plant material has already been placed.
For us, this marks an important transition:from the testing phase to the operational preparation of toll manufacturing.Step by step – data-driven, pragmatic, and focused on scalability.
Thank you to everyone who makes this progress possible through their trust. 💚
