#German Action Days for Sustainability
For three weeks, the whole country focuses on a topic that's long been noticeable in agriculture, water. 💧
From September 18 to October 8, the German Sustainability Action Days take place, three weeks in which businesses, schools, and initiatives across the country show what can actually stand behind the term. This year's focus topic is water, a resource that's becoming increasingly scarce and contested, especially in agriculture. For us, that's a good reason to get specific instead of just using a big word.
Many raw materials used for fibers today need their own cultivation land and their own irrigation, water that's then missing elsewhere. At eco:fibr, we take a different approach. We turn pineapple plant residues, which are left over after the harvest anyway, into mechanically processed dry fibers for the paper, packaging, and fiber cast industries. No additional cultivation and no additional land, just a different way of looking at what's usually left behind. 🍍
Even at the first processing stage, we rely on a method that doesn't require large amounts of water, mechanical extraction mainly needs electricity at its core. 🌾
Working in a resource-conscious way doesn't mean wearing a label for us, it means shaping every step of the process so that as little as possible is lost and as little as possible is used unnecessarily. 🌱
We're happy to keep showing you how we handle resources in our process, just follow along! 🍃
