# FSC & RSB

Two of the most well-known certification systems in the field of bio-based raw materials are entering a new partnership. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) have announced that they will work together to better connect certification systems and make it easier to use bio-based materials in supply chains. 🌿

Concretely, the aim is to develop a framework that allows materials recognised under one certification system to also be recognised under another. The initial focus will be on integrating non-forest plant-based fibres into FSC-certified value chains, including agricultural residues certified under the RSB sustainability framework.

The project runs from September 2025 to September 2027 and is funded through the ISEAL Innovations Fund. In addition to the recognition framework itself, digital tools for risk detection and interoperable data systems will also be developed. Industrial pilot tests in the areas of packaging and fibreboard are also part of the initiative.
