✏️ Stronger rules against greenwashing in the EU 🌍

Environmental claims are coming under increasing scrutiny, and for good reason. In recent years, terms like "climate neutral" or "eco-friendly" have multiplied on products and packaging, often without any verifiable basis behind them. This is exactly where the EU's EmpCo Directive comes in. 📋

Starting in September this year, the directive will introduce stricter requirements for sustainability claims and labels. Companies will need to be able to prove that their claims actually hold up, not just sound good. Vague or blanket terms without evidence are meant to become a thing of the past.

For many companies, this means a significant shift in mindset. It is no longer enough to call a product eco-friendly, the claim also has to be verifiable and documented. This affects large corporations as well as smaller companies working with bio-based or resource-efficient materials. 🔍

At eco:fibr, we are actively preparing for this shift. A key part of this is Life Cycle Assessments, which allow us to make the environmental impact of our processes traceable across the entire value chain. At the same time, we are exploring relevant certification schemes that help us put our claims on a solid and verifiable foundation. ✅

For us, this is not an unwelcome extra burden but a meaningful development. Anyone developing resource-efficient solutions should also be able to back that up with solid data. Developments like EmpCo show where the market as a whole is heading, and it is a direction we explicitly welcome. 🌿♻️
