#Circular Economy ≠ Recycling
The best circular economy is one where waste is never created in the first place. ♻️
Yet when we talk about the circular economy, recycling is often the first thing that comes to mind. That makes sense, but it doesn’t go far enough. In the waste hierarchy, recycling actually comes much later. Before that come waste prevention and making further use of materials that are already there.
So recycling is more of a last resort than a first step. The much more interesting question is how we can prevent materials from becoming waste in the first place. 🌱
This is exactly where we come in at eco:fibr. We use the plant residues left behind in the fields after the pineapple harvest, not the fruit itself. From these residues, we produce mechanically processed dry fibers and fines for the paper, packaging, construction and molded fiber industries.
Beyond their unique storytelling potential, our fibers offer a range of functional benefits:
High bulk
Energy-efficient bonding development with the potential to reduce refining energy requirements
Open-pore and air-permeable structure
Intentionally rough texture and distinctive appearance for differentiated product concepts with high opacity
In addition, our fibers are ISEGA-certified and suitable for food contact.
